Visiting
To the Traveling Brother
Visiting brethren are warmly received at Johnson City Lodge No. 561. Please reach out before your visit so the lodge can be ready to receive you.
Welcome to the Hill Country
Whether you're passing through Blanco County on your way somewhere else or settling here for the season, the brethren of Johnson City Lodge No. 561 will be glad to have you among us. We are a small, working lodge — the kind where the meal is generous, the work is taken seriously, and visitors are remembered long after they've gone.
Please contact us in advance of your visit. Reaching out a week or two ahead lets the secretary make sure you're expected and that the proper arrangements are in place to receive you.
Meeting Schedule
- Stated meetings: Third Tuesday of every month — meal at 6:30 PM, meeting at 7:30 PM.
- Floor School: Tuesdays at 7:00 PM.
- Called meetings: As scheduled for degree work and special occasions.
Dress Code
The brethren of Johnson City Lodge come from every walk of life and every kind of work — ranchers, tradesmen, teachers, truck drivers, professionals, and retirees among them. We are, with quiet pride, a country lodge: jeans and boots are the rule, not the exception.
Our reverence for the Craft is deep, but we do not believe it requires a coat and tie to demonstrate. Come dressed as a working man dresses — clean and respectful — and you will be at home among us. On occasions when the Grand Lodge of Texas, A.F. & A.M., calls for more formal attire, we dress as the Grand Lodge directs.
What to Bring
- A current dues card or letter of good standing from your home lodge.
- A government-issued photo ID.
A note on examination. Per the laws of the Grand Lodge of Texas, A.F. & A.M., visitors must be examined or vouched for. Reaching out in advance makes this easy on everyone.
